Welding


WELDING I     
Grades:             11
Prerequisite:      Be in good physical condition, have basic math and science skills
Credits:             2 credits Junior year
This two credit course is designed to provide students with occupational training in welding concepts and practices. Skills will be developed in basic welding processes which include oxyacetylene, shield-metal arc, gas-metal arc, gas tungsten arc, blueprint reading, plasma arc cutting, air carbon arc gouging, production welding and metal fabrication methods. Students will purchase their own equipment and uniforms from local vendors at an estimated cost of $115.00.  This course may allow students to earn college credit from the Community College of Southern Nevada. 

WELDING II     
Grades:             12
Prerequisite:      Welding I, must be in good physical condition
Credits:             3 credits Senior year
This three credit course will increase the knowledge of the development of skills learned in junior year. It will prepare students for the Welding Certification Test and the American Welding Society Structural Exotic Steel Tests. Welding certification fees vary yearly at an estimated cost of $60.00.  This course may allow students to earn college credit from the Community College of Southern Nevada.
