OFFICE TECHNOLOGY I   
Grades:             11
Prerequisite:      Completion of 10th grade           
Credits:             2
This one-year, two-hour course is designed to expand business students’ understanding of the operation of computer applications and to reinforce proper keyboarding techniques. Major emphasis will be on word processing, spreadsheets, database management, desktop information management, desktop publishing and presentation applications, as well as keyboarding and ten-key skills. Students will receive instruction in developing the skills required for entry-level computer occupations.  Emphasis is placed on aligning the curriculum with the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification program sponsored by Microsoft Corporation.  This course may allow students to earn college credit from the Community College of Southern Nevada.

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY II    

Grades:             12
Prerequisite:      Completion of 11th grade, Office Technology I
Credits:             2
This one-year, two-hour course is designed for senior students who have completed Office Technology I. This course will build on students’ knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, database management, desktop information management, multimedia presentation applications, as well as keyboarding and ten-key skills. Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) training is a top priority in this class. Students prepare weekly contracts to effectively manage their time and set personal goals. This is an intensive course to prepare students for entry level and more specialized computer and business occupations.  This course may allow students to earn college credit from the Community College of Southern Nevada.
